Members of the Southcoast Worksite Health & Wellness Collaborative held its fourth annual conference, entitled Applying the Stages of Change to Worksite Wellness on May 9, 2013 at the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center. About thirty-five representatives of local employers and others came together for the morning session to hear a keynote presentation by Psychologist James Prochaska, Ph.D. of the University of Rhode Island focused on applying the technology of the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change to the work setting. His presentation was followed by a talk by Debra Wein of Wellness Workdays on the return on investment of worksite wellness programs. Following a stretch break led by Southcoast YMCA yoga instructor Susan Spano Piacenti, the morning concluded with a panel with that included Clair Blais of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Worksite Wellness Program, Michelle Karn of the American Heart Association, Kerry Mello of Southcoast Hospitals, and Angela Bras of Partners for a Healthier Community.
